ONE VOICE CONSORTIUM STRATEGIC, VISION, MISSION, GOALS- Broad Overview
INTRODUCTION
Significant number of African governments recognize the role played by the diaspora constituents as
citizens in the global marketplace, in their respective global communities in enhancing socio-economic
development, governance structures and fostering stability. The recognition of the importance of the
diaspora has led to the enactment of the Diaspora policy as a guidance document. For example, Kenyans
in the Diaspora, being a subset of Kenyan community, consider this an important initiative that will have
a significant impact in the implementation of interventions that will alleviate challenges facing
communities. The Kenyan community in the Diaspora has therefore established a similar organization
known as Global Diaspora One Voice Consortium (OVC) whose principal goal is to bring Kenyans and
Africans in Diaspora together

.

VISION, MISSION AND CORE VALUES
The OVC is a new organization that is at its formative stage hence, the process of preparing the Strategic
Planning started by reviewing the Vision and Mission statements that had been coined by the founding
members. The Strategic Plan Committee provided the Executive Leadership and members with
guidelines for reviewing and re-drafting the Vision and Mission statements and encouraged them to
submit any new ideas. It was impressed on the members that, while the two statements must be
compelling and clear to articulate what the organization is about, they must be simple, concise, and
memorable. Members were reminded that, soon the organization would unveil an aggressive marketing
campaign that would demand them to be the mouthpiece for OVC, hence the need for them to be
particularly well versed with the Vision and Mission Statements.
